Oktoberfest

Tournament rules:

We follow USA rules primarily with the following adjustments

  • Mat strike zone.  This helps eliminate most strike zone complaints
  • minimum arc is 3' from point of release (USSSA) with a max arc of 12' (old ASA/USA)
  • Umpires will not call a pitch illegal during the pitch.  They can call it illegal after the pitch is complete.
    • Umpires don't have a tape measure, I only ask them to be as consistent as possible so hitters/pitchers need to adjust to what they are calling for height
  • game times are schedule every 50 minutes.  With wood bats games tend to go a bit faster.  no new inning after 50 minutes.  hard stop at 60 minutes during pool play and revert back to previous completed inning.
  • coin flip for home and way during pool play.  Away team will get .5 runs to prevent ties.  Elimination games, higher seed is home team. away team doesn't get .5 runs.
  • one courtesy runner per inning. doesn't have to be last out, but if the courtesy runner's at bat happens when they are on base, it will be an automatic out.
  • Run rule 15 after four innings and 10 after five.
  • If the home team is trailing by 4 or more runs going into the last inning, we will flip flop.
  • No courtesy foul
  • 3 home run limit  with unlimited+1 if both teams use all three.  +1 only happens in both teams will have at least 1 more at bat.
  • Bats must be softball specific and must be made of maple, birch, ash, or the Mikken bamboo/maple hybrid that I approved.  No corn dogs.  I will have community bats to share at each field.
  • Alcohol or other substances are not allowed on the field or in the dugouts during play
  • Technically Alcohol is not allowed in public, drink at your own risk- that being said we have not had issues in the past so long as empties are put in the trach/recycling.
