The South Shore Softball League has a storied history of providing competitive softball for both men and women for decades. The league utilizes two locations: Freeman Park in Shorewood and Historic Excelsior, MN overlooking Lake Minnetonka. South Shore Softball partners with Minnetonka Community Ed to provide three distinct leagues.
South Shore Softball has a Monday night Men's league which has a wide range of teams. From your seasoned veterans to the young guns who are retiring their metal spikes in exchange for 25 less feet on the base paths. The dynamics of the wise veteran player vs the young spit fire play out weekly.
On Wednesday evenings the women take to the diamond. With many of the same teams returning year after year; it is not uncommon to see coaches face off against former players under the lights. On Thursdays the, highly competitve, mens teams have agreed to put down the metal bats and pick up the ash lumber. Sure, homeruns have become more scarce absent the technology, but the crack of the bat echoes; baseball is back.
